Are there really that many David Lean fans out There?
 
To me, no director in the history of film did more to "naturalize" and
thus blanderize literature made into film than Lean:
 
case in point, DR. ZHIVAGO and any other "epic" novel Lean attempted to
make into a filmic "epic"
