I have just started started doing video production at home and am caught
between:
          (a) continuing to use my Sony 8mm camcorder and two basic video
           cassette recorders for editing; and

          (b) investing in the type of equipment my department uses in its
production classes (which is more than I want to pay for personal
           equipment).

A quick review of some video magazines led me to conclude that one route to
go would be to buy two Panasonic AG 1960 vcr's and an edit controller. This
is still well over $2,000. This would let me edit frame by frame (I think).
Another less expensive alternative might be the new Sony S-VHS vcr that uses
L, S or pause protocols. I would need only one of these (at least initially)
because it can use the same protocol as my Camcorder. Has anyone has experience
with this latter alternative? Better yet, can someone offer me a comparison of
it to the AG-1960?

Other alternatives would also be appreciated.
