Another film of interest might be Anthony Mann's The Furies.  Barbara
Stanwyck plays the daughter of a cattle baron, but she is taking over the
role  of family leader.  Some may view her character as embodying typical
masculine attributes.  Another may be Sophie's Choice where the dillema for
her, though created by a nazi officer, is an ethical one.
