Kristin Thompson has an interesting analysis of GROUNDHOG DAY in her book, STORYTELLING IN THE NEW HOLLYWOOD.

Also, I recall Stanley Cavell telling the New York Times in an end-of-the-millenium piece that GROUNDHOG DAY would be the best-remembered film of the 20th century's last quarter. This perhaps means that he has published on it somewhere.
