An HBO production called GULF WAR HEROES might be one you want to look at.
 It is shot in a documentary style with interwoven bits of reinactments and
actual footage.  Stars Daniel Baldwin.
 
My take on it was--all fluff, zero substance, with melodramatic speeches
about the effects of war.  You might be able to salvage something from it.
