Thanks for the correction. It's what I meant to say, i.e. the Rohm
purge signalled the ascendancy of the S.S. over the S.A., and the
treatment of the two in TRIUMPH OF THE WILL indicates that Ms. Riefenstahl
was hardly a political naif.
 
Those with a print or cassette of TOTW might wish to look very closely at
the first sequence...Der Fuhrer's plane in the clouds and landing... presumably
at Nurenberg...and figure out how many different planes were photographed
to put that sequence together. They're all Fokker Tri-motor's, but with
different markings! It's as though she was practicing for the wholly
confected, but elegantly edited "diving sequence" in OLYMPIA.
