You might want to look at Buster Keaton's _The Playhouse_ there is one
scene where Keaton plays nine members (in blackface) of a minstrel show.
 
There is a pan from the stage to the audience and all the members of
the audience are also Keaton.
 
Because of Keaton's childhood in vaudeville one can assume that the
minstrel show performance is realistic of such shows during the early
part of this century.
