Hope someone on SCREEN-L can help point me in the right direction. I'm
set to graduate in August with an MA in Film Studies, and I'm trying to
weigh my options:
1) If I decide to pursue my PhD, can anyone recommend a university at
which I would have a shot at teaching and getting a break on tuition?
2) Should I decide to go the non-academic route (and this is the tough
part), how can I market myself toward getting a job in the film industry?
(I'm NOT production-oriented). I've written lots of film reviews for
the campus paper here, but that's a tough area to make a living at.
Maybe working on press releases? How does one find out about such things?
Any decent directories, postings, etc. that would lead to a job
in a film library or archive, for example? I'd be most appreciative for
any suggestions that might help me get going on a job search. Also -
any jobs I may be qualified for that I probably haven't thought of, or
would not know about. Any advice I can get....
Thanks,
Eric S.
