Agnieza Holland(?)'s THE SECRET GARDEN features as main characters
two children of approximately age ten. At times somewhat gothic
and scary, the atmosphere of this film reminded me of WUTHERING
HEIGHTS...

For another late-teens film, try Tim Hunter's RIVER'S EDGE.
