the problematicizing of the machine in the l920s 30s  reads both ways
ideologically, left and right thrusts. One friend of mine cited the theater
of Meyerholdt, in which actors were instructed to become machine-like.  Then
you get the whole DADA thrust critiquing interrogating machine -- notaby
Duchamp  ernst  so forth
