Hi, Mike, et. al. - I assign Janine Basinger's 'A Woman's View' when I
teach my 'Heroines' course. It covers 1930-60, so you would have to get
your students to watch movies made before they were born... Maybe you can
get them to compare some contemporary film to 'Stella Dallas' or 'Mildred
Pierce.' Kathi Maio has published two collections of her Sojourner
reviews, which would give students a model for thinking about these issues
in the context of a film critique. They might be out of print, but I could
put you in touch with her in case she has some copies she could pass on to
you. What are you using as a writing text?
