==============================

We at the University of La Verne are planning a new interdisciplinary class
as part of our general education requirements. The class will be listed
under the generic heading "Toward a Sustainable Planet"
The classes under this rubric need to combine science and humanities or
social science. The class we are planning is tentatively titled Ecology
and Film and will look at issues affecting the environment through
film -- mostly Hollywood features, but some documentary comparison would
be welcome. Do you have any suggestions for readings in this area
texts or articles. We have a list of films compiled but would welcome
more -- issues to be covered in class include rain forest, pollution,
nuclear power, nuclear weapons, epidemics. Other suggestions for
categories of films are welcome. Thank you.
