Ya know, I'm really not sure what to make of this. I mean, you say yer sorry
for missing out on the opinions of a practicioner of the art of filmmaking,
but then again, you want to bring the discussion around to those that "no
longer believe in 19th century notions of social and political forces". I'm
sure I'm alive and well in the 20th century, thank you very much, and that my
opinions are as well. If you could take yer nose out of that THEORY book and
down from that pedestial yer on, then maybe you would realize that I'm simply
stating that my opinion (one that I feel is shared by a great many who
PRACTICE filmmaking) is that an author's intention is of extreme importance
(author, read: crew) in what a work of "art" means. You guys who do nothing
but discuss OTHER people's work should actually EXPERIENCE some of it before
you begin to be so high & Mighty-mole about formulating yer "deterministic
accounts".

To paraphrase one of the only things I remember from Philosophy 101..."there
are NO wrong opinions"

oh yeah, I did remember one more thing...the answer to the final exam that
got me an A in the class. A one-question essay test.

Q) Why?

A) Because

and the Sime addendum: "......I SAID so!"

Mike:)

BtW 2- Hey Larry...how on Earth are you gonna provide free college by CUTTING
federal subsudies? (bet he wants to try and do it while cutting taxes
too....)
