Following is a list of bulletin boards that I have been compiling for my
colleagues in Communication Studies here at the U of Iowa. They are simply
entries that I have gleaned from "lists of lists"; some I have sampled,
but most I have not. (I've included a couple parenthetical, personal
observations). The list name is first (all caps), followed by a
brief description and then the address(es). Unless otherwise indicated, to
subscribe, send the following message to the address listed: SUB list name

Julie, here are a few more lists that might be of interest. I
have taken the liberty of forwarding your list to CARR-L.
A quibble on your subject line. Most of your list and my
additions are Bitnet LISTSERVs (or pseudo-listservs). In
addition, there are quite a few Usenet newsgroups and also a
variety of bulletin board systems. The best place to start on
BBSs is Mark Leff's TVBRDxxx list for broadcasters and
journalists.
The newest version of Mark's list will be available in a day
or so and can be gotten by sending the command SEND MEDIA BBSLIST
to COMSERVE@RPITSVM or sending GET BJBBS LISTING to
