Thinking about this last night, I remember an Argentinian (? Latin
American anyway) film, again
shown on UK Channel 4 this year (don't know if that helps finding the
film?) called, I think, *Vera*. Mostly set in a women's orphanage, and
the heroine insists she is a man almost to the end. Fairly recent (1990?
91?) Sorry this is rather vague but I could probably root out exact
details if you need them.
        This doesn't *exactly* fit, but when someone mentioned Vanessa
Redgrave I thought of *Sad Cafe*. Well worth watching anyway!
