Also, BOUND FOR GLORY with David Carradine as Woody Guthrie living the hobo
life, Robert Aldrich's EMPEROR OF THE NORTH POLE with Lee Marvin as the
legendary hobo A-No. 1; SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS when McCrea and Lake go "on the
road." William Wellman's BEGGARS OF LIFE (1928) with Louise Brooks and
Richard Arlen. Possibly the AFI FILM catalogs, especially the 1911-1920
issue may be of some help in tracing missing films. The literary influences
of both Hamlin Garland and Jack London are valuable here as well as the
French mystique of the "clochard", one of whom Godard interviews in Le Gai
Savoir.
