Sorry, I'm about to suggest another conspiracy movie that is slightly
older, though not quite as old as some of the others that have been
mentioned: *The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai across the 8th Dimension*
(1984), which I remember as a box-office failure but also soon a cult
flick.  Among its revelations is Orson Welles' supposedly fictional
broadcast of a Martian invasion as belatedly covered-up news.  Like *Men In
Black*, it fuses conspiracism with both farce and science fiction, so it
might well appeal to your research interests.  Allan
