*A Celebration of Sherlock Holmes*

DePaul Pop Culture Conference

We are now re-accepting submissions for the ninth annual DePaul Pop Culture
Conference, hosted by DePaul University! This year’s “Celebration of
Sherlock Holmes” will take place *in person** on *May 07, 2022*. More
details can be found at popcultureconference.com.


*assuming we can meet safely, and under strict guidance from the CDC and
DePaul University.



This event will feature roundtable discussions from scholars and fans of
Sherlock Holmes in all formations*. *Our keynote speaker is *Arwel Wyn
Jones*, production designer from *Sherlock*, *Doctor Who*, and other
shows. Our featured academic speakers are *Dr. Tom Ue*,  Assistant
Professor in Literature and Science at Dalhousie University and an Honorary
Research Associate at University College London, and Dr. Ashley Polasek,
internationally recognized expert on Sherlock Holmes and author of *Being
Sherlock.*



Participants may propose papers about a broad array of ideas related to
Sherlock Holmes and its cultural impact. The audience for this event is
both graduate and undergraduate students, both fans and scholars. You may
propose multiple papers and panels. There is no cost to participate.



Some possible topics include: The ubiquity of Holmes; the influence of
Holmes; adaptations of Holmes, the morality of Holmes;
race/ethnicity/gender identity in Holmes; Religion and Holmes, creating
Holmes; teaching with Holmes, etc.



Please *submit an abstract* of your talk by *Monday, March 01 to *

interested in contributing to our published charity volume, papers of
2-5,000 words are due by *Friday, April 02. Please direct questions
