PBS's AMERICAN EXPERIENCE will present "Midnight Ramble," a documentary on
"race movies" of 1910-50, tonight (Wednesday, 26 October), 9:00 pm CDT.

TV GUIDE describes the program:

"Midnight Ramble" recalls the "race movies" of 1910-50, which "were
important to black audiences because [they] provided them with images of
themselves that they didn't see on the regular screen." The documentary
focuses on the work of filmmaker Oscar Micheaux, who intended, he wrote,
"to teach that the colored man can be anything."
