Greg Day suggests that NBK is being targeted at 15-22 males, and as such
there is a real question as to the responsibility of pandering violence
to those ill-equipped to handle it and understand it.

Maybe, sort of. I can't really say who the film is targeted to by the
studio - no doubt they hope to make serious cash off that particular demo.

BUT, who the studio marketing whores target has precious little to do
with the artistic statement made by the movie. Marketing aside, this is
most definitely NOT a movie made for teenaged boys. I don't know about
the audience Greg was in, but I noticed no such adolescent celebration of
violence in the theater (which featured a number of younger patrons).
Whether the average kid gets it or not may be a question for the
marketers or the ratings board, but I can't imagine any reason at all why
Stone should concern himself with tailoring a movie that kids will
properly understand. Jesus - it's clear from this list and a couple of
others I subscribe to that he had his hands full just trying to do something
that allegedly intelligent adults could understand.

As usual,
Road Angel
