ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY POSITION
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION
Assistant Professor in Media Production

The Department of Communication at SUNY Buffalo State is seeking an
assistant professor (tenure track) in the area of media production to begin
in August 2015.

The appointee will teach three courses per semester for undergraduate
students in media production classes and other college core courses as
assigned.  The appointee will also engage in scholarly research and
creative activity, advise students, and participate in department, college,
and community service.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in media
or related field; expertise to teach media production courses (such as
audio, radio, video, television, multimedia production, media management,
writing) and selected departmental core courses (media writing, speech,
visual communication or media literacy); college-level teaching experience;
demonstrated ability for media scholarship or professional activities in
media production; and demonstrated professional experience in media
production.

Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. or an M.F.A. in media or related
field; record of professional achievement in media production; full-time
college teaching experience; and ability to teach courses dealing with
media ethics, media criticism, new media, or communication law.

APPOINTMENT: Full-time tenure-track appointment beginning September 1,
2015, contingent on funding.  Degree must be completed by time of
appointment.  Salary is competitive nationally, with excellent benefits.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Department of Communication is a critically and
professionally oriented program, offering majors in public communication
(public relations and advertising), journalism, media production, all of
which are accredited by ACEJMC, and communication studies, plus a minor in
speech, all with an emphasis on media criticism and ethics.  The department
has more than 800 majors.  SUNY Buffalo State is the largest, the only
urban four-year comprehensive college, and the only ACEJMC accredited
programs in the SUNY system.  Western New York and neighboring Southern
Ontario offer dynamic media and cultural opportunities as well as excellent
four season recreational activities.

reporting, or media criticism.
