August 9, 1999 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Program Coordinator Frameline Founded in 1979, Frameline is the nation’s only comprehensive non-profit organization dedicated to the exhibition, distribution, promotion and funding of lesbian and gay film and video. The San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival is Frameline’s signature event, and for over twenty years the Festival has been bringing new and rare works to Bay Area audiences. In addition to the Festival, Frameline Distribution brings over 200 lesbian and gay films and videos to television, theaters, colleges, libraries and community groups across the country, and the Tzabaco/Frameline Film & Video Completion Fund helps to bring lesbian and gay work to the screen with grants awarded annually. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this position will be familiar with the Macintosh platform and have sufficient knowledge of Filemaker Pro to both maintain and create databases. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as an ability to be both flexible and detail oriented. Familiarity with film & video exhibition issues and knowledge of queer filmmakers is a plus. Personal experience will be enhanced by initiative, creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, discretion, and a sense of humor. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, the ability to prioritize demanding multiple responsibilities, and be motivated to work both independently and as part of a team. Areas of Responsibility will include: Data Entry and File Maintenance Data entry and creation of files for all festival entries and related materials Catalogue and organize press materials, preview tapes Assist in the processing of Completion Fund grant applications Organization and maintenance of film and research databases and files Assist in development of a master film database and cataloging of preview tape collection Copy Writing Write press releases as necessary Write and proofread Program Notes and other catalog copy Community Outreach Develop and maintain contacts with community organizations Oversee and manage festival co-presenter relationships and distribution of complimentary tickets during the festival Additional duties include Correspondence with filmmakers, distributors and other media sources The Position This is a full-time position, with paid benefits. Work schedules require expanded hours and flexibility during peak periods, especially in the months prior to the San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, held each June.
