University of Nottingham School of American and Canadian Studies Institute of Film Studies Lecturer in Film Studies The above appointment will be made in any area of American film history, although the successful candidate will be expected to teach one or more of the following: production; marketing; distribution; exhibition; critical mediation (reviewing, etc.); reception and consumption; political economy; archival research. The lectuer will be expected to teach two undergraduate modules and two MA modules. The ability to supervise postgraduate research is also essential, particularly in at leaste one of the areas outlined above. In addition to teaching, candidates must have an established publication record. In the last two Research Assessment Exercises, the School achieved a 5 rating, and intends at least to maintain this for RAE 2001. As a result, the person appointed is expected to contribute to the research culture of the School as a whole, not only through publications, but also through activities such as reading groups and the newly established online journal of film studies, which is run by the Institute of Film Studies. Finally, the School has a system that seeks to ensure that administration is shared fairly between staff, and as a result, the lecturer will be expected to carry a normal administrative load. Salary will be within the range £16,655 - £29,048 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
