Call for Submissions The 1998 New York Lesbian & Gay Film Festival/The New Festival Submissions of films/videos by, about, or of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, or transgendered people are now being accepted for the 1998 New York Lesbian & Gay Festival. Since 1988, The New Festival, Inc. has presented the annual New York Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, one of the most comprehensive forums of international lesbian and gay film/video, and an important exhibition platform for independent film/video makers. The festival, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 1998, provides a professional and public context for the presentation of innovative and challenging work that reflects the broad range of practice, ideas, and perspectives found in contemporary media. The eleven-day 1997 Festival, held in two venues in the heart of downtown Manhattan, showcased over 50 feature length films and videos and over 150 shorts, representing innovative and challenging work from nineteen countries. Last year's Festival also inaugurated awards for Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary Feature, and Best Short. The New Festival will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary in June 1998, and we invite you to submit your work for programming consideration.
