Let's just hope that Hollywood gets the message. I wasn't simply dismissing Jerry McGuire because it was a "studio" film. In fact, I think it is the WEAKEST thing Crowe has done. My judgement of the film, then was slightly auteurist (I know, a bad word now-a-days). But, come to think of it, Secrets and Lies isn't Mike Leigh's best work either (I think Naked is more powerful, and Life is Sweet a more interesting kitchen-sink film). I guess if there HAS to be a studio film in the running, Jerry McGuire isn't the WORST pick. Glen Norton ---- To signoff SCREEN-L, e-mail [log in to unmask] and put SIGNOFF SCREEN-L in the message.
