The 150-major Journalism Department at the University of Rhode Island seeks a fourth tenure-track colleague to teach both "skills" and "conceptual" courses in broadcast news and journalism. Journalism faculty are expected to teach three courses per semester, advise students, be active scholars and be involved professionally and at the deparment, college and university level. Individual hired can expect to teach Introduction to the Mass Media. She/he also must be able and willing to teach two or more of the following: History of Broadcasting, Foundations of American Journalism, Mass Media Issues, Mass Media Law. * Master's degree with significant professional experience in TV news required; Ph.D. with professional experience in TV news preferred. * College-level journalism teaching experince preferred. * Experience with new and emerging media technologies preferred. This tenure-track appointment begins with the 1997-98 academic year.
