This falls under the rubric, "where credit is due" for those interested in
written material on Butterfly McQueen. In Stanley Cavell's rambling but
groundbreaking THE WORLD VIEWED (1971), he gives a fine analysis of types
in the cinema. In discussing black types, Cavell looks at the childbirth
exchange between Scarlett and her maid but he does mention Butterfly
McQueen by name in offering his account.
