RE: Current Films (See/Saw Men/Women) I'm conducting a "film forum" this Friday; we're discussing _Sense and Sensibility_ and _The Crossing Guard_. Any views among you virtual folks about these two films that I might share with the "real" forum members (mostly my students)? I'm especially interested in anecdotes and analysis of Ang Lee's work, in relation to Emma Thompson's script and performance. And the more general problems/plusses of male directors adapting female authors' texts (Thompson's and Austen's). Or any aspect of the role of women in the other film, too. For next month's film forum, I'm considering _12 Monkeys_, because I'm a Gilliam fan. But my dept. chair saw it and hated it (as old hat politically and immature comically). Any of you like/dislike it. (I've not seen it yet.) Any higher recommendations for current films?
