Back in 89, the Soviet Filmmakers Union and FIPRESCI (the International
Federation of Film Critics) had organized, in Moscow, a symposium on FILMS
OF THE TOTALITARIAN EPOCH 1933-1945. A series of both German and Soviet
(mostly Russian) films of this period had been screened, and a conference
-- headed by my colleague Maja Turovskaja and by me -- had discussed the
differences and similarities of both cinematographies. The catalogue of
the event is still available -- unfortunately in Russian and in German
language (which actually ate the two concerned languages).
