As far as Australian women directors, you should check out the work of Gillian Armstrong ("My Brillian Career", "High Tide", "Puberty Blues"?, "Starstruck"), and Jocelyn Moorehouse ("Proof"). Jane Campion is a New Zealander but she completed her studies in Sydney (aside from the obvious, "Angel at my Table", "Sweetie" and her shorts, "Peel" are highlights). Also Peter Weir's "Picnic at Hanging Rock" is worthy of inclusion in an analysis of Australian feminist filmmaking. All of the above (with possibly the exception of "Starstruck") were at some time available on video in the U.S. Hope the above is helpful. Rebecca.
