As far as Australian women directors, you should check out the work of
Gillian Armstrong ("My Brillian Career", "High Tide", "Puberty Blues"?,
"Starstruck"), and Jocelyn Moorehouse ("Proof").  Jane Campion is a New
Zealander but she completed her studies in Sydney (aside from the obvious,
"Angel at my Table", "Sweetie" and her shorts, "Peel" are highlights).  Also
Peter Weir's "Picnic at Hanging Rock" is worthy of inclusion in an analysis
of Australian feminist filmmaking.  All of the above (with possibly the
exception of "Starstruck") were at some time available on video in the U.S.
