Although it is not Australian in content, the Warner Bros. 1933 musical "Footlight Parade" is all about producing those "prologues" which you are describing. It is, in fact a "crash-course" in the subject. Directed by Lloyd Bacon, the musical numbers are by Busby Berkeley. It also has some of James Cagney's best hoofing and some very funny, pre-Code humor about censorship. And lots of Sex! The story is supposed to be loosely based on the career of Fanchon & Marco, two black Americans, who were the premiere producers of live prologues in the U.S. Gene Stavis - School of Visual Arts, NYC
