Re: inquiry about boxing movies. I missed previous discussion on this issue, so this may be redundant, but some other titles to consider include CITY FOR CONQUEST, with James Cagney; GENTLEMAN JIM, with Errol Flynn; THE GREAT WHITE HOPE, with James Earl Jones; THE SET UP (an interesting variation, with screen duration corresponding to plot duration--"real" time); THE HARDER THEY FALL, with Bogart; HERE COMES MR. JORDAN (remade by Warren Beatty as HEAVEN CAN WAIT), with Robert Montgomery. Among others. Hitchcock's silent film THE RING (1927) is also a boxing film. Of course, Boxing and boxers figure as important subplot elements in many other films, eg. PAT AND MIKE, MODERN TIMES, et al. --Don Larsson
