I missed previous discussion on this issue, so this may be redundant, but
some other titles to consider include CITY FOR CONQUEST, with James Cagney;
GENTLEMAN JIM, with Errol Flynn; THE GREAT WHITE HOPE, with James Earl Jones;
THE SET UP (an interesting variation, with screen duration corresponding
to plot duration--"real" time); THE HARDER THEY FALL, with Bogart; HERE
COMES MR. JORDAN (remade by Warren Beatty as HEAVEN CAN WAIT), with Robert
Montgomery.  Among others.
 
Hitchcock's silent film THE RING (1927) is also a boxing film.
 
Of course, Boxing and boxers figure as important subplot elements in many
other films, eg. PAT AND MIKE, MODERN TIMES, et al.
