It's about their lives, but predominantly through the eyes of the women. Anders starting point for the film is the fact that by the time they reach adulthood a high proportion of the men will be either in jail or be dead/disabled through violence. The film tells the story of how the women deal with this life from several angles. Some of the cast in the film are actual gang members. If there's a fault with the film, it's because there are rather too many threads running through it. I didn't feel it was as accomplished as Gas Food Lodging and it had some technical faults (although I did see it last year and if it's yet to come out in the US these may have been rectified).
