The producers' inclusion, in both seasons, of one person from outside of New York/Los Angeles (one from Alabama, one from Kentucky) was an obvious attempt to provoke cultural clashes. Without the confrontations the program would have had no conflict to capitalize on. >Note: there was an article in Rolling Stone about a month and a half ago about >"The Real World". As I remember, it was a fairly good article. I think that's where I saw a description of the REEL WORLD (first season) trip to Jamaica where they were almost assaulted for videotaping a reggae performance--footage that never made it to MTV. And there's a short piece in TV GUIDE (5/23/92) on the first season: "A Slice of Reel Life." It's lightweight criticism, of course, but it provides some background information. ---------- It takes an active sense of humor to survive in Big Tuna. --WILD AT HEART ---------- | Jeremy G.
