Oooof! Plan 9 was Bela Lugosi's last movie, not Boris Karloff's! You're
confusing your 1930s monsters!! (Actually, Karloff was a better actor and
Lugosi a much sadder case. Having played Dracula and receiving some quite
good bit parts in such films as NINOTCHKA , Lugosi drifted into alcoholism
and drug addiction. He eventually started drinking formaldehyde!! Towards
the end of his life, his only way of supporting his habit was appearing
in the grade z films of Edward Wood, quite possibly the worst director of all
time. Among the Lugosi lowlights of this part of his career: BRIDE OF THE
MONSTER (in which he utters the line "Do not be afraid of Lobo, he is as
gentle as a kitchen."), GLEN OR GLENDA, and, of course, PLAN 9 FROM OUTER
SPACE.)
