The department of communication at Georgia State University invites
applicants for up to two anticipated tenure-track assistant professors
in moving image studies, to begin in August 2008. Candidates should have
innovative research programs underway in the historical, critical and/or
theoretical study of visuality in the context of the moving image (or of
sound-image relations), whether in cinema, television, or new media. The
particular area of specialization (e.g., *national* media, feminism,
cultural studies, etc.) is otherwise open. Candidates should have the
ability to teach in the department*s undergraduate film program and
also to contribute to work done in the M.A. and rapidly developing
doctoral Moving Image Studies programs. Ph.D. required. Applications
should include a letter of application and CV, transcripts, three
letters of recommendation, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
