Don't know which LAST OF THE MOHICANS you are referring to, but Maurice Tourneur directed one shortly after THE BIRTH OF A NATION appeared. I just wanted to make sure you knew about the silent version, which is I believe available on video (it was on laserdisc at least). It's a fascinating, underexamined film, I think.
