Apologies for cross posting. Can anyone suggest where I might look for applications of John Dewey to film study? I'm particularly interested in material which might be useful in exploring connections between 1) Dewey (and/or possibly C. S. Pierce) and theories of spectatorship; 2)more generally, American pragmatism and film theory; and 3) much more specifically, Dewey's writings and what his contemporaries were saying about the movies up to 1930. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Mikhail Gershovich ---- Screen-L is sponsored by the Telecommunication & Film Dept., the University of Alabama: http://www.tcf.ua.edu
