The Department of Film Studies, Queen's University, seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective 1 July 2001. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience. This is the Alliance Atlantis Professorship in Film Studies, a new position for an emerging academic who demonstrates exceptional promise in film and media studies. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Film Studies or in a related area, with a strong grounding to Film Studies. The successful candidate will be required to teach general courses in film or media at the first- and second-year levels, and more specialized courses at the third- and fourth-year levels. Expertise in African or Asian or Aboriginal cinema, and feminist approaches to scholarship and teaching are regarded as strong assets. The Department of Film Studies has an interest in developing in such areas as postcolonial, gender, and/or queer studies.
