David Mamet has also written several thought-provoking essays on melodrama in
film -- "The Jew for Export" comes to mind (in _Make Believe Town_) as well
as selections from _On Directing Film_ and _The Three Uses of the Knife: On
the Nature and Purpose of Drama_. He also discusses the concept in his
interview w/_Salon_ magazine, done around the time of the release of _The
Spanish Prisoner_. Don't have the exact URL for the interview, but you can
find it through _Salon_'s home page: http://www.salon.com This list isn't
exhaustive -- as most of you know, Mamet tends to express his opinions on
such subjects frequently...
