>a) Try to get a code-free DVD player If you have a choice, get a player that allows you to *change* region codes rather than a code-free player. The reason is that some discs will only work if the player is set to the same region code and so they wouldn't work in a code-free player. The thing to watch out for, though, is that many players will allow you to change region codes a certain number of times (usually five, sometimes seven) before permanently locking into that region.
