Kimberly J. Jenkins Chair in New Technologies and Society


     Duke University invites applications and nominations for the Kimberly J.
Jenkins Chair in New Technologies and Society, a newly endowed University
Professorship to be filled at the rank of (tenured) associate or full professor.
The Jenkins Professor will be a joint appointment, either in two departments in
Arts and Sciences or joint with one of Duke's professional schools.

     We are seeking applicants who have achieved national or international
distinction and whose work ranges more broadly than traditional departments or
focuses on an area of knowledge that crosses disciplinary boundaries.  We are
especially interested in applicants who have worked on the transformative impact
of information technologies, including the internet. Research and teaching
fields might include sociology, psychology, engineering, computer science, the
natural sciences, the arts, ethics and philosophy, health sciences, science
studies, women's and gender studies, social and cultural studies, political
science, international relations, public policy, law, or management.  Possible
areas of scholarship or teaching might include the ways new technologies
influence child policy, families, or women, or issues of equitable access and
distribution of new technologies.
