One recent publication has a detailed chapter on Anger: Juan Antonio
Suarez's _Bike Boys, Drag Queens, & Superstars : Avant-Garde, Mass Culture,
and Gay Identities in the 1960s Underground Cinema_.

Searching through a library database turns up another title: Michael
Saunders, _Imps of the perverse : gay monsters in film_ published by Praeger
in 1998.

And searching through Amazon.com turns up an "unauthorized biography."

But doubtless no one would issue a call for information on the context of
Anger's work without already having sought out such obvious starting points,
so this is surely beside the point.

Sincerely,
Edward R. O'Neill
