POSITION: Chair-Artistic Director, Theatre Department with expertise in
Acting/Directing, Box Office, Organization/Management and Children's
Theatre. Tenure Track, 9 month position beginning August 1, 2000.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have strong and proven leadership,
administrative and management abilities. These abilities should include
faculty development, grant writing, computer literacy, student recruitment
and retention, community outreach and involvement in local/national
professional arts organizations. Proven success in teaching and
interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a close
collaborative environment are requisite. Terminal degree required.
DESCRIPTION: Serve as chair for a dynamic and growing Theatre Department
with a strong production program. Teach classes as appropriate to
expertise as well as Acting and Directing, Theatre Appreciation and
Organization & Management. Direct at least one main stage production per
year. Administer the academic and financial affairs of the department
including box office, publicity and promotion, and working with the Office
of Development in fundraising.
RANK AND SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications.

INFORMATION: The Department of Theatre is accredited by N.A.S.T. and
offers two undergraduate degrees; Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of
Arts. The department also offers courses toward a minor in Cinematic Arts.
Seven faculty and 80 majors enjoy a well-equipped facility that houses two
theatre spaces: a 487 seat proscenium theatre and a flexible 40 X 40 black
box studio theatre. Radford University is a co-educational,
state-supported institution of over 9000 students. Radford is a city of
15,000 located in the scenic highlands of southwest Virginia, just off
Interstate 81, approximately 40 miles southwest of Roanoke.
