I recieved many requests for further information on the "Top Ten Films of
World War II" that I mentioned in a previous post. The list came from
Forbes' "American Heritage", February/March 1999. The list is on page 51,
but the feature on World War II film starts on page 41. American Heritage
has a website at http://www.americanheritage.com; the article should be
under the 'archives' section since another issue has come out. As for the
AFI list, I believe I saw it in Newsweek last year; if AFI has a website,
it may be on there.

The list of the Ten Best World War II Films, (as quoted from American
Heritage) is as follows (compiled by Roger J. Spiller)

(the list appears in this order, but no film is given a ranking per se)

A Walk In The Sun
Battleground
The Best Years of Our Lives
Sands of Iwo Jima
Twelve O'Clocl High
To Hell and Back
The Naked and the Dead
Hell is for Heroes
The Bridge at Remagen
The Big Red One

As for the large WWW list I found, the site that sponsored it fails to
come up for me, but here is the address:

http://users.aol.com/MUMBLESAIL/WW2films.htm

I found it by searching on Yahoo! for World War II Movies.

Though the site does not appear to be active anymore, I have a saved copy
of the list that I will attempt to attach to this message. I will also
post the list on the American Cotton Museum Website later tonight. You
will be able to link to it by visiting
