_Jurassic Park_ killed off characters that lived in the book (Muldoon,
Gennaro), and let some characters live who died in the book (Wu, Hammond).
Malcolm supposedly died in the book, too, but Crichton cheated,
proclaiming him "slightly dead" in _The
Lost World_.
