The College of Staten Island, City University of New York, has two
full-time positions open in film and media. In addition, ABD students or
recent PhDs interested in adjunct teaching an introductory course in film

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN MEDIA PRODUCTION AND MEDIA STUDIES
The Department of Performing and Creative Arts of the College of Staten
Island, City University of New York seeks candidates for an anticipated
tenure-track position as an assistant professor specializing in Media
Production and Media Studies, beginning September, 1999. Required:
doctorate or MFA, a demonstrated commitment to teaching and research, and
experience and expertise in two of the following areas: film and video
production; photography; digital imaging; film and media studies.The
successful candidate will be active in media production and will
demonstrate an interest in relating media production and pedagogy to
broader issues of cross-media theory and history. Responsibilities include
teaching, performing departmental and college service, and engaging in an
active production and/or/research agenda. Salary: $38,287 - $53,779,
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of the applications

COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES
The Department of Performing and Creative Arts of the College of Staten
Island, City University of New York seeks applications for an academic
support staff position (Higher Education Assistant) in Communications
Technologies, beginning July 1999. Required: a bachelor's degree and at
least four years related experience; a strong background in media and
administration; familiarity with film/video production (including nonlinear
and digital editing systems) and desktop publishing; and the ability to
maintain expertise in communications technologies in a rapidly-changing
field. Responsibilities include maintaining and overseeing the operations
of the film/video studios, media and desktop publishing facilities (Apple
Quadra with color xerox), and developing educational uses of these
facilities. Salary: $32,373 - $52,213, commensurate with qualifications and
