Nickelodeon's TVLand aired episodes of *Julia* Sunday evenings
this month as part of its salute to Afro-Americans in television (such as
it was). You probably missed them, but, the good news is that if they
were available for airing by TVLand, they, at least nominally, remain in
syndication, or at least limited distribution. I have had amazing luck in
the past contacting firms with current distribution rights for aged
television series to determine if I may rent episodes (generally old 16-mm
prints or U-Matic 3/4-inch cassettes) for "scholarly study." Republic has
been the most co-operative. If you can determine who holds current rights
to *Julia* (a call to Nickelodeon should accomplish that, or have Jeremy
help ;-)), contact them with your request. It was originally a
Savannah Production, through Hal Kanter; Diahann Carroll's agency
might help. I seem to recall that the ATAS/UCLA Archive holds
episodes, but they are non-circulating.
