I thought this bit of material from an actual filmmaker might be of
interest, particularly to see the artistic perspective of someone who
makes films for Roger Corman/New World Pictures.

Hi Scott,
 
1)  Well I don't think my take on "Godzilla 1985" works very well
either.  In fact, at the time, I knew it wasn't going to work very
well.  But how could I turn down the offer to work on a "Godzilla" movie
- no matter how lame??  As the U.S. producer, Tony Randel, put it to
me--"R.J., I'm offering you a chance at immortality."  We only had two
and half days to shoot the additional material.  Our total budget,
covering the shoot, all post-production, and intermediates was $250,000.
Now considering there are some entire movies that are shot for even less
money, that must not sound too impressive.  But for Hollywood standards,
that's incredibly cheap.  Mr. Burr only gave us 8 hours.
 
2)  The significance of the dragon?  It was just a visual symbol for the
mystical link between "Steven Martin" and Godzilla.  It was something
the original U.S. writer came up with and we all thought, "Hell, why
not?"
 
3)  I have not finished my IMDb listings.  I have been trying to update
a few obscure pictures, but the IMDb is having trouble with my entries.
