Katherine,

Henry Littlefield argues WIZARD as a populist parable while Fred
Erisman sees it as an investigation of Progressivism
(both in AMERICAN QUARTERLY, l964). Gore Vidal has a nice compendium
review article of books about Oz in the
Sept. 29, l977 NYBR.

\The Oz series has attracted such writer/critics as Russell Nye, Marcus
Bewley, Edward Wagenknecht, and Roger Sale.
